What we handle on a BMW

Most of what a BMW needs over its life is ordinary mechanical and body work done carefully, with the right parts and the right torque specs. That is the work we do.

Mechanical

  • ·Oil and filter service using manufacturer-specified grades
  • ·Brakes — pads, rotors, sensors, fluid flush
  • ·Suspension — control arm bushings, struts, shocks, end links
  • ·Cooling system — thermostat, expansion tank, hoses, water pump
  • ·OBD-II fault code diagnosis, live data and a written repair quote
  • ·Ontario Safety Standards Certificate (we are an MTO-licensed inspection station)

Body and paint

  • ·Collision repair, panel work and structural measurement
  • ·Spectrophotometer colour matching, including metallics and pearls
  • ·Bumper repair and replacement
  • ·Insurance direct billing with major Ontario insurers

What we refer out — and why we tell you up front

We are an independent shop, not a dealership, and there are BMW jobs that belong at one. Saying so before you book is cheaper for you than finding out after the car is on our lift.

  • Module coding, programming and retrofits that need BMW dealer-level software
  • Open recalls and warranty campaigns — those are free at a dealer, so take them there
  • Anything still covered under a BMW factory or extended warranty where the dealer would do it at no cost to you

Call and describe the problem. If it is one of the above we will say so on the phone rather than book you in.

Independent shop, not a dealership — what that actually means

Independent service does not void your manufacturer warranty. Under the federal Competition Act you are entitled to have your vehicle serviced outside the dealer network, provided quality parts are used and manufacturer procedures are followed. We keep records of every service so you have documentation if a warranty question ever comes up.

What you give up is dealer-level programming. What you get back is a shop where the same people work on your car each visit, you see the old parts, and you get a written quote before anything starts.

European vehicles are a regular part of our work

Etobicoke and the Kingsway are full of German cars, and a steady share of both our mechanical and our body work is European. One customer put it this way after we rebuilt the front end of his Jetta:

"Alex and his team took on the complex job of rebuilding the front end of my Jetta. Not only are they very skilled body men, they are a pleasure to deal with, very honest, always reasonable, and impressively fast. Alex came to me highly recommended by a friend in the local BMW community, and has exceeded expectations every time I've called upon him for help."

That is a VW front-end rebuild, referred by someone in the local BMW community — which is roughly how most of our European work arrives: word of mouth between owners who care what happens to their car.

Before you book

Bring the car in, or call and describe the symptom. We diagnose first and quote in writing before any work starts. If the honest answer is that the job belongs at a dealer, that is the answer you get.

  • Tell us the model, year and roughly what the car has on it
  • Describe what you are noticing — noise, warning light, pulling, vibration
  • For body work, attaching photos to a quote request gets you an estimate fastest

Frequently asked questions

Are you a BMW-authorized or BMW-certified shop?

No. We are an independent auto repair and body shop in Etobicoke. We service BMW and other European vehicles, but we have no affiliation with BMW, we are not a dealership, and we do not hold manufacturer certification. If a job needs dealer-level access, we will tell you.

Will servicing here void my BMW warranty?

No. Federal Canadian law (the Competition Act) protects your right to service at an independent shop without voiding the manufacturer warranty, as long as quality parts are used and manufacturer procedures are followed. We keep service records for you. That said, if a repair is actually covered under warranty, take it to the dealer — it should cost you nothing there.

Can you code or program modules?

No — that needs BMW dealer-level software, which we do not have. Our diagnostics are OBD-II: we read fault codes and live data, and that covers the large majority of mechanical faults. Coding, programming and retrofits go to a dealer or a BMW coding specialist.

Do you use OEM parts?

Your choice, and we will explain the trade-off for the specific part. We push for OEM on anything safety-related. For many wear items, quality aftermarket from the same original manufacturers performs identically for less. Cheap no-name parts we do not fit.

Do you do BMW body and paint work?

Yes, and it is a significant part of what we do. Collision repair, panel work, bumpers, and spectrophotometer colour matching so the repaired panel matches the rest of the car under any lighting. We bill major Ontario insurers directly.

What if you diagnose it and I decide not to do the work here?

That is fine. You get the written diagnosis and quote and you are free to take it anywhere — including to a dealer for comparison. We would rather you check than wonder.
